A Duet With Drew
Is Drew the next actress-turned-singer? Find out, and get the scoop on her new flick, Music & Lyrics!

I'm not gonna lie -- I'm a huge Drew Barrymore fan. From kickin' it with aliens in E.T. to kicking bad guys' butts in Charlie's Angels, this veteran actress lights up the big screen and never disappoints. (She's just so darn cute!) But Drew's latest flick, Music & Lyrics, is by far one of her best yet. I caught up with Drew in New York City to talk about love, the '80s, and what music rocks her world.

Music & Lyrics comes out Valentine's Day. What was your best Valentine's Day?
I can think of several moments, but I think I'll probably keep them to myself -- not to play that annoying "keep it to myself" card, but just not to sell out every single moment that happens in life. But I've had some pretty darn good ones.

You do your own singing in the film, but when you starred in Everyone Says I Love You, you were the only one that didn't want to sing. Why the change of heart?
I've always been told that I wasn't allowed to sing [because of] how horrible [my singing] was! I'm not a 'no' person; I'm not a 'can't do' person. I'm the sort of person who believes you can do anything you put your mind to. [With Music & Lyrics,] I was given more of a chance and some more time and encouragement [to sing]. And since that happened, I thought "Oh god, I don't want to go down like this." I will not be on my deathbed thinking would've-should've-could've. It was incentive for me not to fail. You know what? Go ahead and fail -- but at least try it.
