Models get greased up to look hot, walk a runway, and hand-on-hip-it to the camera or audience. Athletes get greased up to look beefy, strut the court/field and score for the camera or audience. So it's no surprise that both models and athletes share yet another commonality: lack of proper speak. Haven't they heard the saying, "If you can't say something smart don't say it all?!" Apparently not. This week our Sports Nut unleashes a selection of famous (mis) quotes from some of the not-so-brightest college and pro athletes around. D'oh!
An unidentified University of Pittsburgh basketball player once promised: "I'm going to graduate on time, no matter how long it takes."
Orlando Magic general manager Pat Williams on his team's dismal 1992 7-27 record: "We can't win at home, we can't win on the road; as a general manager I just can't figure out where else to play."
New Orleans Saints running back George Rogers on his expectations for the upcoming season: "I want to rush for 1,000 or 1,500 yards, whichever comes first."
